I am proud to be representing Arizona as part of a super cool style guide presented by Old Navy which brags of 50 Styles in all 50 States, as featured on People.com. I know I smack talk about living here, but I feel like when you’re an Arizona native like me, you get exclusive rights to complain about how unbearable the heat is. You also get to wear sandals in the winter while everyone else is getting snowed in. Ha!
In all seriousness, though, I love how the Arizona heat has influenced my wardrobe and style because it has motivated me to keep my look simple and uncomplicated. I’m talking about dialing it back to effortless t-shirt and jean combos. I mean, I kind of feel like the whole white t-shirt and jeans look originated from Arizona’s western roots, right? At any rate, Old Navy is making it really convenient for me because their styles line up perfectly with my current outfit goals.
You can bet that the whole western vibe is alive and thriving here in the desert, and I am happy to indulge in all the strappy sandals, silver jewelry, and distressed denim that will fit inside my closet. Here are just a few tips for you if you’re wanting to adopt an Arizona flare into your wardrobe.
Shield your eyes //
You can’t call yourself an Arizona girl if you dare to step foot outside without at least one pair of sunnies on hand. There are endless blue skies and nothing to shield you from the assaulting rays of the sun except your shades. Safety (and fashion) first!
Keep it light //
Once temps start breaking past the 100s, you need to take all measures to stay cool because every bit counts. I am talking about light colors and prints and light material and fabric. Shoot, I even recommend keeping the jewelry light on the scorching days. Note the light and white t-shirt, loose fit jeans, and open-toed shoes… old pro right here.
Always wear sandals, ‘nough said. But really, you can legit wear sandals year round here and 9 months of the year it is strongly encouraged.
// WHAT I’M WEARING //
Old Navy makes my personal style more accessible because I’ve been finding all the classic pieces I mentioned in my tips plus bold and fun loving prints and colors to add to the mix for those days when I’m feeling more playful. I’m also discovering all sorts of outfit ideas I never would have put together if I hadn’t looked through all 50 Styles from all 50 states, so I’m going to have to strongly suggest you check the people.com guide asap! Especially with the season change that’s about to take place… new wardrobe inspiration will be needed in a big way!
