TOPPINGS & FILLINGS || Where I parade my favorite wardrobe toppings and share about my feelings.
Sometimes the Boss will send me an email now and then. Most of the time the email will be an article from ESPN or a video clip of someone making a goal basket. Last week he surprised me and emailed me a quote. #AWE It said,
“If you expect the world to be fair with you because you are fair, you’re fooling yourself. That’s like expecting the lion not to eat you because you didn’t eat him.”
He sent me this because I believe in being super nice, and turning the other cheek, and giving it all ya' got, and everything will work out in the end. Sometimes that is true, and sometimes there are big fat hungry lions who will chew you right up! I have encountered a few lions, especially in the last 12 months. #sosad
I love the quote he sent me because I need to be reminded that not everyone plays fair and some people will downright walk all over me if I let them. I need to not be so naive sometimes and be a big girl and set boundaries and act tough. Grrrrr. I am tough, pig tails and all! But, on the other hand, I am ok with being naive and nice and expecting people to do the right thing. Maybe all those hungry lions just need someone to give them the chance to be a good person, maybe those lions need someone to show them HOW to play fair.

I guess what I am saying is that it is good to be careful and calculated when dealing with the lions in your life, but you also shouldn’t allow protecting yourself to become what makes you a lion yourself. Be you, only you, and let the chips fall where they may. Because if you are kind and good despite it all, you still win. Every single time.
I have never had a moment where I regretted being fair. The end.
Oh wait! I saw a YouTube video of a guy who was friends with a pack of lions in the wild, and they all played together and the lions didn’t eat him. So not all lions are bad, literal or figurative. The End.
