I like to blame most of my weaknesses on my artistic background. Being the dysfunctional artist that I am I have an increasing list of things I insist on collecting plus an ever evolving fetish for random things. One obsession I’d like to share is my persistent use of shoe holders throughout my house. It started when I purchased several to use in a booth display at an event. I thought I might as well utilize them in my house some way after the event instead of just letting perfectly good storage go unused. Today I have at least 6 of the $5 shoe racks in use in my house and here as I type this I am already envisioning other ways to use them so now I am rationalizing why I need to go get more.
Example 1: This one hangs on the inside of my linen closet in my room and houses all of my whippy cakes. Clearly bursting at the seams. I’m aware this is a problem, no one should own this much cake but the Boss insists I keep the originals from every collection I’ve designed. I better not design any new collections or I will need to be committed for hoarding.
Example 2: This holder hangs on the outside of the linen closet in my room. I store all of London’s dress up jewelry, baby bracelets and other tiny jewels that get lost easily or tangled in a regular jewelry box in this one.
Example 3: This one hangs on the bathroom door across from the linen closet and holds the originals from the Cookie Crumb collection as well as other petite headbands and small bows and hair clips.
Example 4: I hung this one in my pantry to store hot chocolate packets, oatmeal, spices etc. Love love love this one because it organizes the odds and ends that would otherwise disappear in my jungle of a pantry.
Example 5: Who would have thought that shoe holders would make such great shoe holders! Lol, I definitely have one of these in each of their rooms to store my kids chunky hobbit feet shoes. They help me keep track of the shoes and it makes it easier for the kids to be responsible for putting away their own stuff.
I’m a big fan of how cheap these things are ($5-$8 at Wal-mart or Target) PLUS they store so much stuff!!! I also have a fetish for white so it makes my obsession for these holders that much more intense! The pouches are clear so you can see anything in them and BONUS they are incredibly easy to clean. I’m not a shoe holder salesman or anything but by now you should be thinking to yourself “I need to get me a shoe holder… or 10 of them!”
What kind of fetishes do you have?

That is such a cute idea.. I love it!
I just came over to your blog thanks to Lara with less cake more frosting talking so much about you. I haves laundry closet that i have a shoe hanger of cleaning supplies. It makes it so easy to find everything! Love the pantry idea, I’m going to have to go get a few more shoe hangers!
I have been using over the door shoe holders for years…..they are the greatest! I have one on every in my house. Only one houses shoes! I use them for gloves/mittens/scarves. One for household items like batteries/furniture polishes/hammers/light bulbs….you get the idea. I even hang things like squeeze bottle cleaners by the handles on the outside of the holders (therefore not taking up any room in the pocket.) Use one in my bathroom for toothpaste, extra toothbrushes, shampoos, soaps, curling irons, etc. Needless to say….the greatest invention since sliced bread! The possibilities are endless! Luv ‘em!
Dang it! I just went to target! I LOVE the pantry idea! We have so much random stuff in there this would do the trick! I’m pinning this to my organization board!!! THANK YOU!
PS- your pantry looks MAAAAAVALOUS!
