Sometimes in life the stars align and the universe permits very good things to happen. I never thought that my bestie and I would have kids close to the same age due to the fact that I already had two kids before she even met her husband. However, due to the fact that God is in control Rennai got pregnant far earlier than they had planned and I couldn’t get pregnant as quickly as I had wanted, thus setting our due dates just 2 months apart. You can imagine our squealing delight when it was established that we were both expecting girls. From that point on we set out to make an arranged friendship between the two of them where we planned to force them to be besties just like us. Not only did we experience growing fat together but we also sympathized while we took turns whining and complaining about our uncomfortable, mutating bodies. We took solace in the same tub of ice cream as we agreed not to disclose the pounds rapidly adding to scale or the horrible things we said and did to our husbands while emotionally compromised. While the symptoms and side effects of pregnancy were all the same the scene had somehow managed to change all because I had a FEMALE companion to divide it with. I felt we had finally come full circle when it was my turn to finally be there for her during the delivery of her first baby. I was so excited once Dempsey had finally come and Rennai brought Aspen over to meet her new BFF for the first time and we got to lay them on a blanket side by side and take their first of many cheek to cheek photos. And now the trills and delights have continued as the two little girls become more animated and giggly. As much as I absolutely LOATH the idea of Cookie growing up, a tiny part of me is anxious for the girls to get old enough to interact and play together. And while I know that life goes on and things will inevitably change or one of use might move away, I will simply enjoy the blissful moments we have been relishing in while we play dress up with our babies and continue to pig out when no one is looking. There is so much to enjoy in my life right now and hardly enough time to savor it all. Phooey!
Aren’t these pictures yummy!?! My friend Laura took these in January so we could capture each friendship forever before the girls are 3 years old and fighting over each others plastic princess shoes. It was so much fun shooting with Laura, I about fell out of my chair when we received the photos back and the packaging and presentation was so deliciously perfect I felt guilty just for tearing the label. Elaborately amazing experience and photos! Thank you so much Laura Winslow Photography!
