and then there were 5

Over our Christmas break in Utah we had the chance to pop into Skye Johansen’s studio and have family photos taken of us and some newborn shots of Dempsey. I’ve worked with Skye off and on over the last 4 years (my does time fly) and yet we never met in person until our little family sesh. I can’t tell you how much fun we had. Skye has one of the sweetest most entertaining personalities and I just could not get enough of her company.  Skye’s studio is like a theme park to anyone who loves pretty things and gorgeous pictures. I could have spent a week in there and still not seen all the unique props, backdrops and accessories she has to offer for her clients. I am ashamed to say so, but we monopolized almost her entire day. The most shocking feat of all is she was able to get both Kingston and London (my mutant) to behave and smile for some timeless photos. I didn’t think it was possible to get London to sit still and smile for a photo. Who knew! After we accomplished the family and group shots Bret took the kids off to play elsewhere and we had hours to dress up Cookie, pose her and photograph her. Neither of us could believe how much she would let us move her around and change her clothes while she stayed perfectly content for each photo. We figured we better keep going as long as she was cooperating and then at one point we realized she might let us keep photographing her through the wee hours of the night so we better just cut it off. It really was such a memorable experience and I’m not exaggerating when I say I was blown away by the entire experience. I left feeling exhilarated and overly giddy to see the final images. The turnaround for my pictures was also faster than I had expected given how many sessions Skye does in one week alone. I’ve been impatiently holding onto the pictures because of a project I’m involved in that I can’t talk about yet so I had to wait to get permission on which photos I could share before then. I decided this morning I just can’t wait any longer. I hope you will forgive me for including and excessive amount of photos of my family but hopefully you will see why it simply couldn’t be helped!
