save the tata’s [coming soon]

I’m super excited that any moment now Whippy Cake will be selling a special edition “Save the Tatas” applique to help with the efforts to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. It seems like each of us knows someone or IS someone who has/is battling with breast cancer or sadly has already lost someone to the disease. It’s always so inspiring to see women, friends and family supporting and rallying to lift one another up in situations where breast cancer has left it’s devastating mark. I got an email from a special customer (thanks Holly!!!)  asking if I could custom design a breast cancer inspired applique for her to wear during her race against breast cancer and I was so touched by the idea I wanted to make this design available to anyone wanting to support the cause. It’s been so exciting to see pink just about everywhere throughout  October (breast cancer awareness month) and though I may be late as usual I couldn’t wait to get in on the pink action. Be sure to check FB or the WC online shop today for the Tatas applique to debut. I’m offering the Tatas applique while supplies last in hopes that more people will be able to get their hands on one of these pink beauties which are also available as a mini applique. I will be donating 20% of sales from the Tatas appliques to Jen Christensen through The Amercian Cancer Society to help her reach her goal and support her on her journey. I got an email about Jen from one of our good friends and I thought I would share a little blurb from that email so you would know why I felt so inspired to do something.

“She’s in full recovery, but she promised herself that if she survived this, she would dedicate the rest of her life in fighting this disease.  She tries to raise a measly $1,000 every year for this and I don’t know if she’s ever made her goal.”

Brings a tear to the eye doesn’t it! So let’s see how much awareness us WC girls can conjure up for her cause! You can also go to Jen’s page and contribute by donating to her directly online.

Hi Becki! This is Jen, the one you mentioned above. We haven’t met… and I think you are AWESOME! Thanks for helping such a worthy cause!!

First of all, LOVE the fact that you’re doing something pink for breast cancer awareness. My mom’s a survivor so this has been near to my heart for over 15 years!

Second, can you PLEASE do a video of how you style your hair short? Mine isn’t as short as yours but I’d love to see what products you use and how you style it. It’s adorable in these pictures!

Becki,
This is a wonderful idea and your creation is stunning. This year marks 20 years since I lost my mom (my role model ) to breast cancer. I was 11 years at the time and in two weeks I will be running the Phoenix Women’s Half Marathon in her memory. I would love to wear this beautiful accessory as a daughter’s love for her mom never leaves her heart.

I walked with Holly at the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and thought the applique was adorable. Keep up the good work.

Great way to help…a cure would be lovely, however I wish more efforts and education were put toward prevention, so less people would have to deal with the disease at all.

You don’t happen to have any extras of these anywhere…I just stumbled upon it on Pinterest and would LOVE to find one! :)
